Privacy Policy
IdiVidi is a community app in which people report and confirm road events (police patrols, traffic incidents, hazards, cameras) and receive alerts when they approach a reported place. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Who is responsible
The IdiVidi app is operated by the IdiVidi team ("we"). Contact for privacy questions: use the Contact Support entry in the app, or the address published on the app's store listing.
2. Data we collect
| Data | Why | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Account: name, email address or phone number, profile photo, sign-in provider (Google, Apple, email, phone) | To create and secure your account, show your name on your reports and on the leaderboard | Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) |
| Precise location while you use the app | To show your position on the map and reports near you | Processed on your device; your last position is stored on the server to find reports near you |
| Precise location in the background (only if you turn on "Alert me when I enter a reported area") | To alert you when you come close to a reported place while the app is closed. Position updates are sent only while you are moving, about every 150 metres | Only your latest position is kept on the server; earlier positions are overwritten |
| Motion and activity (device sensors) | To notice when you start or stop moving so location tracking can pause and save battery | Processed on your device only |
| Reports you file: type, position, note, optional photo, time | Community content shown to other users on the map and in the feed | Firebase Firestore and Storage |
| Votes (confirm / deny), points, reliability | To verify reports and rank the leaderboard | Firebase Firestore |
| Push notification token, device identifier | To deliver alerts to your phone | Firebase Cloud Messaging |
| Notification preferences (alert distance, muted categories, anonymous mode) | To apply your settings on every device | Firebase Firestore |
| Technical logs (crashes, function calls) | To keep the service working | Google Cloud Logging, kept up to 30 days |
3. What other users see
Your reports show your display name, unless you turn on Report anonymously in your profile, in which case they show "Anonymous". The leaderboard shows your name, photo and points. Your email, phone number and location are never shown to other users.
4. Service providers
- Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, cloud functions, hosting) – Google LLC. Data is processed in Google Cloud data centres.
- Mapbox – map rendering. The Mapbox SDK receives map tile requests and anonymous usage statistics.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple – only if you choose them to log in.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. Retention
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Your latest position: replaced by each new position; removed when you turn alerts off or delete your account.
- Reports: patrol reports expire automatically (typically within hours); other reports stay until removed by you or an administrator.
- Alert delivery records: up to the report's or campaign's own lifetime.
6. Delete your account
In the app open Account → Profile → Edit → Delete account. This removes your profile, points, login and device tokens immediately. Reports you filed remain on the map with the name replaced by "Deleted user". If you cannot access the app, contact support and we will delete the account for you.
7. Your choices
- Location permission can be changed at any time in your phone settings. Without it the map still works but alerts cannot.
- Background alerts are off until you turn them on in Settings and can be turned off there.
- Notifications can be disabled per category in Settings.
- You can edit your name and photo in your profile.
8. Children
IdiVidi is intended for drivers and is not directed at children under 16.
9. Changes
We will update this page when the app's data use changes. The effective date at the top tells you the current version.
